Asian
Palette© Jigsaw Puzzles started to grow in 2006 from a
seed that was planted some 8 years earlier in Taipei, the
capital city of Taiwan. That was the day that we snapped a
picture of hundreds of multi-coloured koi (ornamental fish)
which were feeding in a garden pond at the National Palace
Museum. When the slide was developed (remember this was
pre-digital for us) we said, “Hey! That would make a
great jigsaw puzzle, wouldn’t it?”
And the seed was planted.
During the next eight years, we lived, worked, explored and
photographed in various Asian locations. The collection of
images began to grow along with the idea of someday making
them into jigsaw puzzles so that lots of people might share
in the marvellous and colour full experiences we had.
So in 2006, while also teaching in the city of Macau in
southern China, we began to develop the first four Asian
Palette© images into jigsaw puzzles. We sought and found
a well-established
factory that makes quality puzzles. With
their assistance we invested the next two years in creating
our first puzzles. We proudly introduced the first jigsaw
puzzles to include an informative CD in every box.
We are a Canadian family based in Calgary. Ray has been an
avid photographer, student of beauty and dreamer of dreams
for many years. Maureen has been a poet, writer and
organizer of the family during those many years. Margo,
(with Sean) and Kelsey (with Jason), our two daughters, have
been the constant Canadian connection. Between the bunch of
us we saw the first container of the first puzzles land in
our Calgary warehouse in the summer of 2008.
And that’s our Asian Palette© team and our story...
